Today we'll briefly go over Xero and Quickbooks. How does Xero compare to Quickbooks?


Xero and QuickBooks stand out as two of the most popular accounting software options for small businesses. Despite sharing common features, the two have distinct differences.

PRICING:

Forbes Advisor's review shows that "Xero and QuickBooks have similar pricing, except when it comes to QuickBooks Desktop. The Desktop plan offered by QuickBooks starts at $349.99 per year, goes up to $804 for your first year and renews at $1,340 per year." Quickbooks has two versions, a desktop and online while Xero is purely cloud-based. This means that users can access Xero through any internet-connected device, which may be beneficial for many small businesses.


USEAGE:

In NerdWallet's article, "Xero is known for having a simple, sleek layout that could feel more approachable to business owners who are new to accounting basics... You can do a lot with QuickBooks Online, but all the options may feel like information overload starting out."


INVOICING/BILLS/EXPENSES:

Xero makes it easy to create invoices and preview before sending, while in QuickBooks, it's slightly easier update details about clients directly in the invoice, rather than having to navigate to their contact record. Both make it easy to manage bills and expenses.


CUSTOMER SUPPORT:

  • Xero has free 24/7 online customer support for all its plans.

  • QuickBooks’ support is available Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST and Saturdays, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. PST.
